RICKY Collard continues to lead the MSA Formula Championship after a dramatic weekend at Croft.

Collard, the son of British Touring Car Championship star Rob, qualified third for the first race and looked set to finish fourth heading into the final corner of the opening race.

However, the first two cars collided and while Dan Ticktum was able to limp over the line for the race win, Lando Norris was unable to get going.

Collard unintentionally passed Sennan Fielding as the pair negotiated their way past the stricken car, making him second over the line.

Collard was relegated back to third after it was ruled that he had made the pass under yellow flags, but that could become second place as Ticktum may be disqualified for his part in the crash that took Norris out.

Collard's dramatic afternoon continued as he failed to make the grid in time for the start of the second race and was forced to begin from the pit lane, working his way up from the back of the grid to finish 12th.

He fared better during the final race of the day, finishing second. Running third for most of the race, he made his move at the hairpin at the end of the 13th lap to claim second place.

Collard remains top of the drivers' standings going into the summer break, with the championship getting back under way at Snetterton, in Norfolk, in early August.
