PORTUGUESE striker Orlando Sa made his debut for Reading, as they lost their latest pre-season game 1-0 at League Two Crawley Town last night.

Danny Williams had a couple of chances early in the first-half, as he had a shot block after being found by a Sa pass and then he fired wide from a quick free-kick.

Oliver Norwood then went close for Reading, before a quick break out from the Red Devils saw Ali Al-Habsi called into action to deny Jimmy Smith.

Williams then hit the post for the Royals after a nod down from Sa as it remained 0-0 after 45 minutes.

After the break, sub Simon Cox played a one-two to release Hope Akpan, but his shot went wide of the target.

Crawley's Gwion Edwards was denied by a superb close range save by Al-Habsi, as he turned the shot around the post.

The Reading shot stopper was called into action again as Matt Harrold was denied.

However, he had no chance with the winner which was a superb 25-yard strike from Conor Henderson 10 minutes from time.

Aaron Tshibola came closest to an equaliser for the visitors, but in the end the hosts won the game 1-0.

Reading complete their pre-season with a home game against Spanish side RCD Espanyol on Saturday (3pm).

In signing news Reading have agreed a deal with striker Rowan Liburd who joins from non-league Billericay Town.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year development with the Championship side.
