ODIHAM and Greywell remain on course to claim the Hampshire Cricket League Regional Division One North title after brushing aside visiting Sherfield-on-Loddon.

Philip Thomas smashed his way to 165 and put on 173 for the third wicket with Christo Arundel, who also reached three figures. He ended the innings unbeaten on 100, while Scott McGaughrin made 57 as Odiham closed on 367-4.

Chasing such a big total was always going to be a big ask for Sherfield and they were bowled out for 113.

Jon Gibson made an unbeaten 49 but ran out of partners, while Tom Wiltshire took 3-24 as the visitors lost by 234 runs.

Old Basing II went down to a heavy defeat at home to Littleton and West Hill II.

Ollie Oldcorn made 50, but Basing were bowled out for 91 and lost by nine wickets.

Herriard lost by 74 runs at home to St Mary Bourne, being bowled out for 104 chasing 178-9.

Ashford Hill’s trip to Chawton, Kingsclere’s home game against Crown Taverners and Basingstoke and North Hants IV’s match at Ramsdell all fell victim to the weather.

Just one game involving local sides survived the previous day’s deluge in Division Two North.

Odiham and Greywell II were restricted to 133-7 chasing Ropley II’s 209-3, losing by 76 runs.

Hook and Newnham Basics IV’s home game against Rowledge III, Old Basing III’s trip to Over Wallop, Rotherwick ITW’s home fixture against Michelmersh and Timsbury II and Silchester’s match against OTs and Romsey IV were washed out.

Oakley II lost for the second week in a row, slipping to third in Regional Division Three North East.

The toss was a key factor and it was won by visiting St Mary’s, who put their hosts in to bat.

Veeru Pokala took 4-16 and Dan Vickery 3-24 as Oakley were restricted to 100-9.

The St Mary’s reply got off to a good start, with top-scorer Marc Miniken (26) putting on 48 with fellow opener Tom Lee.

They found it harder after this, but got over the line to win by three wickets and leapfrog their opponents into second place.

Tony Glass was denied a century as his Overton III side lost by 82 runs to visiting Odiham and Greywell III.

Andy Stenning hit 73 and Harry Daysh an unbeaten 54 as Odiham reached 237-9.

Sean Merriman then took 4-21 as Overton were bowled out for 155. Most of their runs came from Glass, who was dismissed on 99.

Frank Bonsey took 5-38 as Basingstoke and North Hants V bowled visiting Fair Oak IV out for 217.

However, the hosts were then dismissed for 94 in reply, losing by 123 runs.

Lewis Maton was the AWE Tadley II hero as they beat hosts Colden Common II by six wickets.

Colden Common were bowled out for 184, with Maton making 91 in Tadley’s successful reply.

Graham Selden hit 45 as Hartley Wintney III reached 152-9 at Bishop’s Waltham III, but lost the hosts won by six wickets.

Overton II sit fourth in Division Three North West after bowling visiting Dinton II out for 72 and winning by 10 wickets.

Whitchurch II continue to struggle in Division Four North. Kevin Ralph took 5-61 as hosts Hungerford II reached 224-7 and while Jack Dancer made 57, Whitchurch were dismissed for 137.

Ramsdell II’s trip to Crown Taverners II was rained off, as was Ashford Hill II’s home game against Aldershot V.
