BASINGSTOKE golfer Stuart Archibald moved a step closer to qualifying for the EuroPro Tour's season-ending Tour Championship by finishing in a tie for 15th at his latest event.
The 31-year-old travelled to Close House, near Newcastle, to compete at The Tree of Life Championship.
He was nothing if not consistent, carding one-under-par rounds of 70 on all three days to claim a top-15 finish, eight shots behind the winner.
In the EuroPro Tour's overall standings, Archibald remains a long way off the top-five place he needs to secure a spot on next season's Challenge Tour. However, his performance at Close House saw him move up to 60th place.
Only the top 60 players will qualify for the season-ending Tour Championships at the end of October, and Archibald is very much in the hunt heading into the final two events of the regular season.
The first of those tournaments, the Clipper Logistics Players Championship, gets under way at Moor Allerton, near Leeds, tomorrow.
