HARTLEY Wintney were unable to win their final game of the season at Andover and so they suffered relegation straight back to Division Two.

The village side went down by 98 runs as they were bowled out for 125 chasing 224 for victory.

Having won the toss Hartley decided to field and the game got off to a dream start as the leading run scorer in the league David Taylor was bowled for a duck by Chris Jolley.

However, fellow opener Tim Alsop proved to be the star of the show as he top scored with 91 from 131 balls and hit nine fours and on six.

He shared a second wicket stand worth 54 with Craig Ross (16) and a fifth wicket partnership of 76 with Darron Augustus (33).

The Hartley bowlers found it hard to take wickets as Scott Baldwin managed to get a brace as Andover scored 223-8 from their 50 overs.

Hartley’s reply was soon on the rocks as they slumped to 24-3.

Aaron Wivell was the lone batsman to get to grips with the Andover attack as he scored 73 from 90 balls which included one six and eight fours.

Dan Wrenn was the only other player to make it into double figures as Mike Adams dismissed the lower order with stunning figures of 5-26.
