BASINGSTOKE golfer Stuart Archibald finished in a tie for 18th place at his latest event on the MENA Tour.

The 31-year-old ended the Shaikh Maktoum Dubai Open on level par, 13 shots behind the eventual winner.

Three birdies on the back nine saw Archibald card an opening round of 70 (-2) at Al Badia, while a level par second round of 72 meant that he safely negotiated the cut.

Sadly, the Worting man was unable to improve his position on the final day, shooting a two-over-par round of 74, but he was still able to claim a top-20 finish and a result that left him eighth in the tour's standings.

Archibald travelled back from the Middle East with the intention of competing at European Tour Qualifying School, but took the decision to withdraw before the first stage.

He is due to return to MENA Tour action at The GOLF CITIZEN Classic, which gets under way at The Els Club, in Dubai, next week.
