SAINTS captain Jose Fonte and his clubmate Cedric Soares could wrap up qualification for Euro 2016 with Portugal tonight.

The pair are part of the squad preparing to host Denmark, in Braga (7.45pm), knowing that a point will ensure them a place at next summer's finals in France.

There is more than that at stake, though, as a win would guarantee them top spot in Group I.

Portugal won the fixture between the sides earlier in the campaign, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting the only goal in Copenhagen last October.

The pressure is very much on Denmark, who are three points behind Portugal, having played a game more.

Of greater concern to them is the proximity of Albania, who are third, just one point behind them with a game in hand.

Portugal coach Bruno Alves has insisted the Danes will get no favours from his side, though.

"It's a good game to show our quality and reach the goal of getting to the European Championship," said Alves, as quoted by A Bola.

"We're looking for a good result. We already have experience playing Denmark, but the important thing is to focus on our own work."

Centre-half Fonte, 31, who only made his international debut just under a year ago, recently told the Daily Echo how much it would mean to him to represent his country at a major tournament.

"That's one of my goals is to be there, at the Euros," he said. "I've never played in that kind of tournament, so for me it's one of my dreams."
