READING slipped to ninth in the Championship after they suffered a 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

It started so well for the Royals when Matej Vydra scored after Oliver Norwood’s shot was deflected into his path, with just 14 minutes gone.

The home side hit back and Chris O’Grady equalised a he netted from close range six minutes later.

Nelson Oliveira gave Forest the lead, just after the half hour mark with a 20-yard curler.

Just four minutes after the re-start the home side made it 3-1 as Oliveira struck again.

Forest then had Jack Hobbs dismissed for a second yellow card after a late challenge on Vydra, but Reading were unable to take advantage of the home side having 10 men, as they lost at the City Ground.

Reading are next in action on Thursday night (8pm) at the Madejski Stadium against Queen’s Park Rangers.

The London side are 12th in the Championship, after a 1-0 win over Leeds United at the weekend.
