READING suffered a 2-1 loss at Championship play-off chasing Ipswich on Tuesday night.

Little happened in the opening 45 minutes, but Ipswich took the lead after 57 minutes, as Freddie Sears found space down the wing and Ryan Fraser had time to spin and score his sixth goal of the season.

After the hour mark, Garath McCleary failed to pick out Matej Vydra on the break, as Reading pounced on a mistake by Jonas Knudsen.

However, moments later Cole Skuse's clumsy challenge on Hal Robson-Kanu, allowed McCleary to convert from the penalty spot.

The home side scored their winner a minute from time, as Brett Pitman combined with fellow substitute Luke Varney and he side-footed home.

The Royals loss now means they have not won in their last four league games and have slipped to 16th in the Championship.

This weekend, they entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers who are four places above them in the table.
