HARTLEY Wintney hammered Raynes Park Vale 10-0 yesterday and will clinch the Combined Counties League Premier Division title on Tuesday night, if they win at Westfield.

Hartley opened the scoring after three minutes, as a corner on the left by Adam Everiss saw Steven Duff rise highest and power a header into the net. The Row side continued to press and Andre Williams was unlucky to see his header from an Everiss cross crash off the crossbar.

On 17 minutes, the home side doubled the lead. A long throw from Dean Stow was flicked on by Shane Hollomby and Williams re-acted quickest to fire home the loose ball.

A minute later Hartley increased their lead, as Williams found space on the right side of the penalty box and his powerful shot from a tight angle found the net with Vale goalie Alex Sykes just unable to keep it out.

Soon after, Dean Stow’s right wing cross saw Sam Argent head just past the post.

The same pair were involved again on 25 minutes with some good interplay which saw Stow score with a low shot to make it 4-0.

The home side almost added to their lead before the break, as first Argent headed a Tom Walsh cross just wide and then Everiss’ cross saw Williams shoot just over.

Four minutes after the interval, a long throw was flicked on by Liam Eagle and Julian Sills was unlucky to see his shot hit the post.

Hartley increased their lead to 5-0, when Williams set up Argent and the striker made no mistake from close range.

On 56 minutes Hartley scored number six. Stow made good progress down the right hand side. His shot was parried by goalie Sykes and Argent was on the spot to fire home .

Goal number seven came after Duff’s right wing cross from the goal line was diverted into his own net by the unfortunate Jerome Smart.

A rare chance for the visitors saw Anthony Noulds intercept a Hartley pass out of defence. He ran on and Craig Atkinson produced a good stop.

Ross Cook replaced the impressive youngster Williams on 68 minutes and scored with almost his first touch. Duff played Cook in and the substitute lobbed goalkeeper Sykes.

On 76 minutes Ross Cook scored a fine individual goal. Picking the ball up on halfway he dribbled past two Vale defenders before firing into the net.

Three minutes later , Cook completed his hat-trick after converting a free-kick on the edge of the penalty box to complete a 10-0 victory.

The closing stages saw some desperate defending by an out of sorts but sporting Vale side.

Hartley now need one win from their three remaining fixtures to win the league. Argent took plaudits for reaching 50 goals scored for the season.
