TERRY Brown’s new young chargers will hope to continue their impressive start to their pre-season when Reading under-21 side visit the Ark Cancer Charity Stadium on Saturday.

This was after the new look Basingstoke Town maintained their unbeaten run with a 3-1 victory at Alton on Tuesday night.

This came just three days after crushing 6-2 home victory over visiting Salisbury last Saturday.

Goals from Joe Gater, Aaron Jarvis and Aaron Redford sealed the win at Alton in midweek.

Braces from George Hallahan and Aaron Redford along with strikes from Matt Partridge and Richie Whittingham made sure Salisbury were put to the sword in a very impressive performance.

A delighted Brown said: “It is great to see the results and the smiles back on the supporters faces.

“It is still pre-season, but I was pleased to see my strikers George Hallahan, Aaron Redford and Aaron Jarvis all getting on the scoresheet.

“We are playing well which is nice to see.”

Looking ahead to the visit of Reading, Brown said: “They are going to give us a good test as they play in the Premier League at their level. Martin Kuhl is a fabulous coach so I am expecting a well drilled outfit.”

On Wednesday night (7.45pm), Town will have their final home pre-season game, when National League South side Gosport Borough will be the visitors.

It will mean a quick return to Basingstoke for last season’s star striker Chris Flood, who signed for them during the summer.

Basingstoke will still be without the injured Mark Hastings and David Ray for both games.

Brown is hoping to have 90 per cent of his squad secured by the weekend and added another name yesterday, by signing goalkeeper Alex Tokarczyk.

The 24-year-old Hammersmith-born shot stopper began his career in Reading and his last club was Falkirk in the Scottish Championship.

Brown said: “Alex has a had a number of clubs. but with goalkeepers they have to move to try and play. He has come recommended by goalkeeping coach Colin Barnes and has looked good so far for us.”
