ODIHAM hockey star Alex Danson and Great Britain will play for the Olympic gold medal on Friday evening (BST 9pm), against the reigning champions the Netherlands.
This was after GB beat New Zealand 3-0 to book a place in their first ever Olympic final.
It was a super team performance and Danson certainly played her part scoring twice.
She netted her side’s opening goal after 22 minutes, from a penalty corner, and then scored a penalty flick in the final quarter, to make sure of the victory in a tense hard fought game.
The Brits second goal also came in the final quarter and from another penalty flick which was converted by Helen Richardson –Walsh.
The defeat for New Zealand means they will face Germany in the bronze medal match on Friday (4pm).
