ROSS Cook was Hartley Wintney's hat-trick hero as his side set-up a second round Hampshire Senior Cup tie against holders Havant and Waterlooville on Tuesday September 20, as they won at Ringwood 5-1.

Cook's first goal came on 33 minutes and it remained 1-0 at the break.

Just a minute after the interval, Cook with a cheeky back heel doubled the advantage.

Further goals from Steve Duff and Louie Paget, with his first senior goal for the club made it 4-0.

It was left to Cook to complete the scoring and his hat-trick in the New Forest.

After the game, joint manager Daniel Brownlie said: "We were pleased with the performance, it was a huge improvement compared to last weekend.

"It was good to see Ross Cook back amongst the goals after four games out. Steve Duff also showed promising signs of returning back to full fitness, and in turn, form.

"As did Joe Paris who has been away on holiday for a couple of weeks. We were unlucky not to take a clean sheet from the game, but for a dubious penalty awarded for hand ball.

Brownlie added: "We were solid defensively, the back four of Dean Stow, Shane Hollamby, Liam Eagle and young Louie Paget, who scored his first senior goal, all had good performances.

"It was important we got back to winning ways, it's should fill the boys with confidence going into the weekend's games away at Sutton Common Rovers on Saturday and then a home local derby on Monday morning (11.30am) with Camberley Town.
