TWO north Hampshire cricket heavyweights Hartley Wintney and Hook and Newham Basics will slug it out at May's Bounty on Sunday in the final of the Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup.

The annual T20 competition for all sides in north Hampshire comes to a conclusion and a bumper crowd is expected at Basingstoke's ground with the action getting under way at 3pm.

Southern League Division One high flyers Hook and Newham Basics will start as favourites as their rivals Hartley play in Division Two.

However, Hartley have won the trophy before being underdogs and will be up for the challenge again.

Hook made the final after winning off the final ball in their semi-final over Basingstoke and North Hants.

The Bountymen had made 112-8 as Ben Julin 24 and Matt Thankachan 20 not out top scored, while spin king Kevin Poulter took 4-22.

In reply, skipper Matt Love with an unbeaten 33 and Nick Willcock 30 helped them to 113-6, as Ashley Neal and Ryan Connor took two wickets each.

In the other semi-final, Hartley upset the form book as they beat holders Rotherfield Park.

Ollie Waddington (4-22) and Dev Buttar (5-15) produced a master class of bowling as Rotherfield struggled to 94-9.

The village side led by Louis Lynch (21) made sure of victory as they reached 97-5.

The curtain raiser for the cup final is the Cyril Thompson Plate final, which starts at May’s Bounty at 11.30pm. Odiham and Greywell will face East Woodhay.

Odiham (154-2) reached the final after an eight wicket win over Kingsclere (153-5).

Terry Kreysa 60 not out was the top scorer for Kingsclere, while Becky Hartnett took 2-40. Kyran Munt with 50 not out then led the Odiham reply supported by Phil Thomas (32).

East Woodhay booked their place in the final with a victory over Overton.
