AFTER two successful rounds of the Hampshire League cross country, held at Wellesley Woods Aldershot and Popham Airfield, a number of teenage runners from Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletic Club have been selected to represent Hampshire at the upcoming South of England Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Horspath Oxford on December 9.

This comes as no surprise as the Basingstoke club are currently high in the rankings of the Hampshire league with the U17 Women currently joint second, U15 Girls in third and U13 girls in fifth position making the selection of Imogen Edwards, Emily Marshall U17, Uma Doublet, Daisy Allford U15, and Celeste Vickers and Lottie Whateley U13 girls an easy choice.

The Boys teams are doing equally well in the league table with the U17 Men in fifth place, the U15 boys in third and U13 boys in second place with Travis Moore U15, emerging young talent Archie Burniston and Harvey Guynan being selected for the U13’s

The South of England area extends from Cornwall to Norfolk and Hampshire have traditionally fielded strong competitive teams.

Coach Jo Breeds said: "It’s a huge achievement for them and they should all be very proud."
