THE Basingstoke Bison will look to get back to winning ways after they suffered a rare winless weekend.

The Herd suffered defeats at the hands of Telford and Hull and next up for them is a super charged local derby with the Bracknell Bees at home on Saturday (6.30pm).

The team are then on the road on Sunday (5.30pm) with a tricky trip to the Peterborough Phantoms.

Bison head coach Doug Sheppard is determined to see his side get back to winning ways and said: "We played better in Hull than against Telford, but only for the first 20 minutes. We have to get back to working hard and getting our intensity back."

Like the Bison the Bees are winless after the first weekend and face a Herd side which includes Bracknell's top forward from last season Vanya Antonov which will add extra spice to the encounter.

Another signing from Bracknell during the summer defenceman Lewis Turner has been released by the club due work commitments and he goes with the club's best wishes.

Looking ahead to the first league derby of the campaign Sheppard said: "Bracknell have beaten us every year and will be looking to do this again on Saturday, We have to be make sure we play to our full ability."

Road trips to Peterborough are always tough as the Phantoms play a lot better at home as was proved last weekend, when they lost on the road and then dished out an impressive win over Swindon.

Sheppard said: "Peterborough is always a tough place to go, but we have won there in the past and will hope to do it again."
